Webb donated a pair of binoculars and mount to be raffled at the next meeting, proceeds to the club. Thank you, Phil! E. O'Reilly reported that the club was accepted for the IAU initiative to name exoplanets. The committee will make their submissions.

C. Nason covered what to observe over the next month.

OBSERVING |
B. Hitchcock missed the triple shadow transit but saw the triple moon transit. E. O'Reilly also saw the three shadows but not simultaneously.He also saw the Mercury-Venus pairing and caught Comet Lovejoy in a triangle with M45 an Aldebaran. M. West saw the Mercury-Venus pairing Jan. 16 and both naked eye Jan. 17. J. Davidson saw M44 naked eye while on a snowshoe hike, also observed M42 and Lovejoy. A. West has been classifying galaxies in the on-line Galaxy Zoo. M. Powell caught a radio transmission from the ISS.

K. Keith gave an interesting slide show of a Sky & Telescope organized trip to Iceland for aurorae. They saw two-hour displays on four nights, plus glaciers and geysers.

C. Nason brought a book Pattern Asterisms. June had a book on Starmus and donated Chris Hadfield's You are Here to the club. Thanks, June! June and Phil each brought magazines to give away. M. West had a book on Venus (by Grinspoon and Marov). A. West brought a vintage Moon globe. C. Curwin displayed his new Skywatcher all view mount.
