BUSINESS D. McCashion takes the PST and the H-Beta filter donated by Bob Hitchcock (Thanks, Bob!). T. Matthews claims the 6" Dob. A. Tompkins takes the 90 mm refractor. A. Bordage has the 4.5" Dob. A. West returned Backyard Astronomer's Guide and it was borrowed by D. Chase. Astronomy Week is April 20-26. Planning talks at Rockwood Park during the week and exhibition at Amazatorium at Harbour Station on April 26.
 
WHAT'S UP C. Nason covered what to observe over the next month.
 
OBSERVING C. Nason, D. Beaudin and D. McCashion observed Comet C/2014 Q2 Lovejoy. Myrtle was watching the stars from her place. A. & M. West observed prominences and sunspots with the PST. J. Davidson saw a jet cross the Sun while solar observing. D. Branch and J. Davidson were observing Orion with the club refractor.
 
SHOW & TELL, BUY & SELL A. West got a 26 mm Plossl eyepiece for Christmas. J. Davidson brought Celestron 15x70 binoculars. C. Curwin had a book "Pearls of the Southern Skies." J. MacDonald brought new books and DVDs. A. Bordage showed his 80 mm / F5 refractor and alt-az mount. S. Tompkins brought the Cosmos DVD. B. Hitchcock displayed his homemade dew control system.
 
ASTRONOMY TALK A. West gave a talk on Phobos and Deimos, the moons of Mars.
 
DISCUSSION Suggestions included types of telescopes and how to use telescopes; types and use of filters; telescope clinics; Smart Phone apps; buying a telescope; constellation talks with mythology.
