BUSINESS M. Powell has the solar scope; S. Tompkins has the club scope; C. Fox returned "Book of Constellations." June has booked space at Brunswick Square and Lancaster Mall for Astronomy Day. She also received an invitation for an astronomy booth at Exploratorium at Harbour Station on April 21. (This will be picked up by RASC NB.)
 
WHAT'S UP C. Nason reviewed what to observe over the next month.
 
OBSERVING REPORTS Mike and Curt have been observing sunspots. Dave observed the Lunar X. Curt did public observing at Irving Nature Park (Sheldon's Point) as part of a Moonlight Snowshoe Hike.
 
ASTRONOMY TALK Mike gave a talk on Observing Mars in 2012, covering the ice caps, polar hood and clouds. It will be small this opposition (March 3) and tougher to see detail. Telescopes need to be cooled and collimated. He also covered how the views can be enhanced with filters.
 
SHOW AND TELL Peter brought a new William Optics 70 mm APO refractor and an Explore Scientific wide field eyepiece. Mike has bought a weather station for his observatory. Curt had some old star maps. Al has bought an observing chair from Cat's Eye. June brought touchable star pictures (in Braille) that she obtained from NASA. and some astronomy DVDs.
