BUSINESS |
June is looking into a church on Douglas Avenue as a meeting place and also Castle Funeral Home. The annual Christmas party will start at 6 pm at St. Anne's church, the meal is $25 per person. See Angela about Sky & Tel subscriptions at a reduced club price. June discussed her desire for a permanent club home. June will no longer bring the books to meetings, we will set it up to request books through the Web site. Ed Kaine still has the club scope and Chris Curwin retains the solar scope. Elections: President - retained by June. VP - retained by Mike Powell. Treasurer: Don MacPhail succeeds Angela Davis. Secretary: Adrien Bordage succeeds Curt Nason. Sonia T. returned The Moon Observer's Guide and Book of Constellations; Natalya returned The Stars and borrowed Comets, Asteroid and Meteorites.

WHAT'S UP |
Curt covered the things to watch for in the sky over the month.

OBSERVING |
Dave B. observed the large sunspot on Sept. 25. Steve T. and Ed O. hosted 12 people for an observing session at Steve's. Curt has been following Comet Garradd, sketching sunspots, and saw the supernova in M101.

SHOW AND TELL |
M. Powell brought his meteorite collection. Curt had a book of the collected 1949-50 Journal of the RASC.5. Astronomy Talks - Mike showed slides of the star parties he attended and June showed pictures from the Urban Star Park ceremony at the Irving Nature Park.

M. Powell gave a talk on meteorites, covering the terminology, naming convention, types and composition, descriptions, buying tips, and tips on how to find them.

Astronomy Talk: Starmus Festival |
Kathryn and Paul Gray visited from Fredericton to give a photo summary of their visit to the Starmus Festival on Tenerife, Canary Islands in June. Kathryn had been invited to officially open the festival.
