BUSINESS The club scope is with S. Tompkins for upgrades. D. Beaudin took the PST. has the solar scope; S. Wetmore returned DVDs #2 and #4 and borrowed the Hubble book; D. Beaudin borrowed Understanding the Universe disc 2. We discussed Astronomy Day (May 7) displays at Brunswick Square and Lancaster Mall. Next meeting we will decide who wants to be where to have approximately equal representation at both locations. April 2012 is the 25th anniversary of SJAC - special activities to be planned.
 
WHAT'S UP Curt covered the things to watch for in the sky over the month.
 
OBSERVING Marc A. enjoyed a beautiful orange moonrise on March 19, as did Al H and Doug M. Marc, June and Curt did public observing at the Algonquin in St. Andrews for Earth Hour. Ed O. saw Mercury and Jupiter in the evening sky, and the waning crescent Moon and Venus in the morning. Curt N. has been sketching sunspots and gave presentations at a few schools. Adrien was observing sunspots and prominences in the PST and did public observing in Fredericton for Earth Hour Day. Dave B. observed the lunar Straight Wall.
 
Astronomy Talk: Living In A Bubble June M. gave a presentation on the heliosphere, covering slow solar wind from the equator, fast solar wind from the poles, corona, solar wind effects on our atmosphere, the heliosphere, heliosheath and the terminal shock wave. She included the space probes that are monitoring these.
 
SHOW AND TELL Steve T. had a book "Night Sky" from Indigo. Curt had a book "The Sun," published in 1911. D. Beaudin donated a book on Hubble images to the club library. (Thanks, Dave!) Rosanna A. brought the recent Scientific American, which had an article on gaps in the Big Bang theory. Doug M. brought a photo of the supermoon, and a Telrad, as well as a planisphere he had downloaded.
 
DVD We watched a DVD from the club collection on the wave-particle duality of light.
 
YOUTH ASTRONOMY CLUB No one attended.
