BUSINESS No takers for the club scope; M. Powell has the solar scope; C. Fox has Principles of Astronomy; J. Dunlap has DVD #9. June displayed the new SJAC business cards; M. Arsenault announced the UR of our Web site is now sjastronomy.ca; A. Davis announced we have an SJ Astronomy Facebook page; there was a discussion on a regular observing night; We discussed possibilities for new meeting locations and times. Possible purchases with club funds are a new base for the club scope and frames for pictures for public display. June announced that George Jones was awarded Club Astronomer of the Year for 2010.
 
WHAT'S UP Curt covered the things to watch for in the sky over the month.
 
OBSERVING Marc spotted Mercury and a naked eye view of Venus in daylight; Candace saw the ISS twice in one evening; Mike had a good night in his observatory on Christmas Eve; Curt had been observing Jupiter's Red Spot and moons action; Jeff had a good night observing Quadrantids, getting 8 plus 3 sporadics.
 
Astronomy Talk Mike gave a primer on the Sun, with its physical characteristics and features such as sunspots, prominences, and coronal mass ejections. He followed up with a slideshow of What We Do in SJAC.
 
SHOW AND TELL Chris C. brought a new Orion refractor; Mike P. showed a Williams Optics 66 mm APO refractor; Curt N. had an ETX-90 at a good price; Marc A. showed a tektite from Arizona and O'Meara's book on observing with binoculars; June brought Season 3 of The Universe.
