Talk: The Physics of Star Trek: Transporters, Worm Holes and Warp Drives |
After a primer on quantum mechanics, George Jones gave a brief history on transporter theory, with the Quantum No Cloning Theory (1982) and later quantum teleportation in 1993 where the original was destroyed (abiding by the no cloning theory), and the identity of a particle has since been teleported 11 km. Worm holes arise from theory of curved space-time. Postulated in Contact by Sagan, used in Star Trek episode (The City at the Edge of Forever). He ended with time travel paradoxes.
