WHAT'S UP Curt Nason highlighted what to look for in the sky and the events coming up for the next month.
 
OBSERVING Chris M. observed M42. George J. had a great view of Mars on a night of steady seeing. Peter J. continued with his Messier project from his backyard. Chris C. continues to watch Mira's variability. Marc A. was out a lot with scope and binos bagging Messiers.
 
SHOW AND TELL Chris M. had a new 6 mm Orion eyepiece, 4 colour filters, and an i-Touch with astronomy apps. Adrien brought a new-to-him Orion Starshoot Pro CCD camera. The club was given a book called "The Meteorites of Alberta" to commemorate IYA. June M. had several books, including Moonwatch, Levy's Book on Comets, and an almost lifesize book on the Universe. Rosanna A. brought a new book Space. Curt N. had a book through e-Bay called Shrouds of Night.
 
Talk: The Moon Mike Powell gave a talk on the Moon's origin, features and composition, along with some facts and pictures he had taken.
 
Solar Pics Dave D. displayed pictures of the Sun he had taken through his hydrogen alpha scope.
 
Business George explained that UNBSJ might request rental fees for the room. The next meeting will be at Seawood if we cannot get the room free. Curt will e-mail contacts at the Halifax and St. Johns RASC Centres to see if they are charged. UNBF and U de Moncton do not charge. Dads: John D. has #7, Counselor M. has #5, Dave and Sonia TO. have #3, Dave M. has #2. Solar scope - Shawn M. Club scope - Ed K. still has it. June outlined the events to happen at the museum, with the meteorite display on the second floor and talks in the museum. She asked for volunteers to give a talk. June will contact Brunswick Square about a display on Astronomy Day.
