WHAT'S UP Curt highlighted what to look for in the sky and the events coming up for the next month.
 
OBSERVING Myrtle was watching Jupiter and the ISS. Angela and Marc watched the ISS pass on fireworks night. Mike took a photo of sunspots. Allan has been seeing lots of stuff in in new scope. Chris C. has been doing variable star magnitude estimate of R Scuti and Mira using binos. Adrienhad two good nights of observing at Kouchibouguac. Chris M. observed M31, M13, M92 and Jupiter. Curt, Ed and 3 Daves did public observing at Long Beach. Curt did starbusking at WalMart and Sussex Superstore.
 
RASC GA report Adrien gave a slide presentation on the RASC meeting at Cypress Hills Dark Sky Preserve.
 
SHOW AND TELL Mike brought an Orion fanny pack for eyepieces and filters, and a beautiful 6" refractor. Adrien had two scopes he bought at the GA: a Celestron 3" F/4 Firstscope and a 5.1" F/5 with collapsible truss tubes.
 
SJAC Yahoo E-Mail Observing List Marc demonstrated the new Observing Contact list. You need to join Yahoo Groups (and get a Yahoo e-mail account). Go to Yahoo.ca -> click on Groups -> search for "sjac observing" and click on it -> "to become a member" click on Join. Go to bottom of page to Post a Message. BUSINESS Club scope: Ed Kaine; PST - Curt; 1 copy of NightWatch and Pocket Sky Atlas (K. Horgan); No one took the DVD “Destiny in Space”; DVD “Understanding the Universe, Part 1 - Adrien; Part 2 - D. Thorn; Shawn has the Mars book; Ed Kaine still has “Cosmic Perspective”; no one took “Backyard Astronomer's Guide”; Christmas Party - This will be December 5 at St. Anne's church on Simpson Drive (Glen Falls). Curt will send out invitations by e-mail to anyone who has attended a meeting this year. Cost will be $20 - $25 per person. Sky & Telescope magazine subscriptions: You can renew on line.
