WHAT'S UP Curt covered the things to watch for in the sky over the month.
 
OBSERVING Mike P observed Saturn; Adrien B and Curt N saw Comet Kushida with Roy Hess; Adrien had been out many mornings working on his Observing Certificate and plotting Ceres and Saturn; Dave D did 2 deep freeze runs with Francis Casey, observed Saturn and the Rosette but couldn't get the Horsehead; Curt saw Comet Lulin
 
SHOW AND TELL Peter had Patrick Moore's 2009 almanac; Curt had the 7th edition of Norton's Star Atlas (c. 1942); Dave had the wow of the evening - a Solar Max 60; Bill had 25x100 Celestron binos; Adrien displayed his 12" collapsible Dob by Skywatcher.
 
CONSTELLATION LEPUS is below Orion, put there by Hermes for Orion to hunt; contains M79 globular cluster, planetary nebula IC 418, galaxy NGC 1744, Hind's Crimson Star
 
DVD LECTURE SERIES Intro (Filippenko) - series of 90 half hour lectures bought by the club: Lecture 1 - A Grand Tour of the Universe.
BUSINESS Club Scope - Ed Woods, PST (Curt/Adrien). The Cosmic Perspective (Ed K.). Destiny in Space DVD (Roy H.), Backyard Astronomer's Guide (?); Mars book (Shawn); Museum plans in April - June led a discussion on what we can do. A group volunteered to put together a display (meeting at museum Feb. 15)
