WHAT'S UP Curt covered the things to watch for in the sky over the month, focus on Mercury.
 
OBSERVING Mike P. observed 5 planets , M57 and M31; Dave D. saw Uranus, Neptune and M15, M81/82; Marc A. watched the Moon occult M45; Peter J. was observing from his deck with an 80 mm; Curt N. saw Venus and Mars together from the bedroom, and Jupiter through the 16" at SMU.
 
CONSTELLATION TALK Cassiopeia (by Marc) - Covered the mythology of the famous Perseus-Andromeda tale. The brighter stars are named for Cassiopeia's body parts; deep sky with M52, M103, ET cluster, NGC 7789; Cass A radio source, supernova of 1572.
 
SHOW AND TELL Chris had a teaching binocular microscope; Steve displayed his Super Laser Pointer; Dave brought meteorite fragments; June brought a laminated picture of the Heart Nebula.
 
Famous Observatories Peter presented on the ESO Very large Telescope in Chile. It has 4 large scopes and smaller auxiliary units that can be used in various interferometry configurations.
